Opportunities to Serve

Let your love SHINE!

“In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”  Matthew 5:16

We are thrilled to participate in the 4th Missouri District SHINE event! Each year this service event grows, with 10,000 people serving in 2023!

Join us in serving our community!

We reached out to our community leaders and asked how Concordia could serve. They expressed having a great need to clean up Quinette Cemetery in Kirkwood. Please join us on Saturday, April 20th at 9:00 am at Quinette Cemetery. The City of Kirkwood will have tools available, or you are welcome to bring your own.

Would you like to serve during worship as an Acolyte?

There are opportunities to serve each weekend. At least one Acolyte is needed for each service. Don’t worry, training is provided!

God hand-crafted you with intention and purpose, forming you with unique spiritual gifts, heart, abilities, talents, and experiences, or as we’ll refer to to it here, your S.H.A.P.E.

One of our goals at Concordia is to help people better understand how God has SHAPEd them. A closely-related second goal is to then help people use this understanding to pursue opportunities to use those gifts and abilities as disciples of Jesus. After completing your S.H.A.P.E.d inventory, please share your results. The information you send to us will help ministry staff contact you when ministry opportunities arise!

Are you ready to serve?

Ways to Serve

  • Card Ministry

Many of you have received birthday and other cards. Gather in fun and fellowship, assembling cards for Concordia’s ministries. No experience necessary. We meet on the first Thursday of the month at Concordia in the Library. Come as you can. Contact Sharon Ema at sema@CKhome.org for more information.

  • Prayer Team

You are invited to join the Prayer Team, where members of Concordia gather to pray over those in need of prayer and support. Email Sharon Ema at sema@ckhome.org to get involved.

  • Food Pantries

Members of our community are in need of supplies. Specific items currently needed include hearty soups, pasta, peanut butter, tuna, cereal, fruit cups, granola bars, shampoo, and diapers (adult and child). Drop supplies Monday-Friday at Concordia from 9:00am-4:00pm.

  • Prayer Square Ministry

Are a tangible reminder of Christ’s love and His presence during our life. The cross image on the crochet or knitted square reminds us that He is always with us including the difficult times. The crocheter or knitter make these squares while praying for the person who will receive it. If you would like to be a part of this ministry, you can make these squares at home or in a group. Patterns and supplies are available upon request. For more information, contact, sema@ckhome.org or wld4mu@sbcglobal.net .

  • Help with CK Kids Sunday School

Help renew and grow the hearts of our young Concordians by volunteering for CK Kids Sunday School! Every year we need help with:

-Sunday School, both teaching and assisting
-Vacation Bible School helpers every summer
-Watch the littlest kids in the nursery

If you would like to volunteer to help with the kiddos, email Kris at kpaul@ckhome.org

  • SpiritLifters

Desire some connection with others? Reach out to others with a phone call, or card and include a scripture or prayer. It takes a moment of your time to bring joy to another (and you too!)

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.” 2 Corinthians 1:3-4

Contact Sharon Ema at sema@ckhome.org to get involved.

  • High School Basketball League

Concordia hosts an annual church league high school boys CHRISTmas basketball tournament the weekend of January 5,6, &7 2024. Volunteer help is needed throughout the weekend with concessions, at the entry gate, and at the scorers table keeping the clock or the book for the games. Don't worry if you have never helped at this event before, each of these positions are easy to learn. Please contact Eric Binder ericbinder@netzero.net if you can help. This is a great opportunity for students needing to earn volunteer service hours. See the bracket, here!
