Volunteer for Night to Shine 2021!
Concordia is proud to be an official host church for the 2021 Virtual Night to Shine, sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation. Night to Shine is an unforgettable prom night experience, centered on God’s love, for people with special needs, ages 14 and older. The event will be hosted by churches all around the world simultaneously on Friday, February 12, 2021. We are so excited to be a part of this!
This year, the number of volunteer teams required to achieve a worthwhile virtual Night to Shine experience for our Honored Guests is much smaller, but they are still just as important. With your help, we can yet again turn Valentine’s Day weekend into a celebration of God’s love for people with special needs in our community. We can’t do it without your help!
Please read through the volunteer job descriptions below and prayerfully consider joining one (or more than one) of our Night to Shine 2021 volunteer teams!
Please note: volunteer opportunities are available for Concordia members only in 2021.
Virtual Red Carpet Team - emailed to by February 5th
Put on your fancy clothes and cheer and clap for our Honored Guests from the comfort of your living room! Record yourselves horizontally for twenty seconds and send to Stacy Knorp at no later than February 5th. We will include your video in a virtual Red Carpet our Honored Guests will watch before “attending” the virtual Night to Shine experience created by the Tim Tebow Foundation. Signs and decorations optional!
Card Writing Team - dropped off at Concordia by February 5th
Help us fill the Night to Shine Experience Kits for our Honored Guests with notes of love, joy, hope and warmth from Concordia. Each kit will include one standard, scripted note and one personalized. Note cards will be provided.
Prayer Team - February 12, 2021 and beyond
Those on the Prayer Team will have the opportunity to pray for each of our registered Honored Guests by name. As parents and caregivers submit prayer requests online, those will be shared with the Prayer Team as well.
Shine Kit Delivery Team - February 10/11, 2021
If our Honored Guests can’t come to prom, we will bring the prom to them! Members of this team are responsible for delivering joy through the Shine Kits and “shining the yards” of our Honored Guests. The Shine Kit is full of decorations like confetti, balloons, a red carpet and more that can be used by parents and caretakers to decorate the home. Because everyone loves to eat at Night to Shine, coupons and gift cards are included. This year, we will also “shine the yards” of our Honored Guests with yard signs and balloons. Background checks required.
Shine Thru Celebration Team - February 12, 2021 4-6pm
Weather and Covid permitting, our Honored Guests will come to Concordia for a no-contact Shine Thru celebration! Our Honored Guests will show off their fancy prom clothes, pose for pictures, get cheered for and do a little dancing… all from the safety of their own vehicle. Guests will leave with a Night to Shine Experience Kit full of important goodies like crowns, flowers, dessert and more before heading off to log in to Night to Shine Virtual.
Family groups and “Covid bubbles” less than ten people will be safely spaced out along the outdoor Shine Thru route at individual stations. Let your creativity shine and bring everything with you to cheer for and celebrate our Honored Guests. Signs, noisemakers, balloons...the sky’s the limit!
This year, our Night to Shine Giving Center has moved online! I invite you to view our Night to Shine 2021 Amazon Wish List and consider donating. Each item on our list will go toward the creation of the Shine Kits and Night to Shine Experience Kits that our Honored Guests will receive.
