Rite of Confirmation
The Rite of Confirmation is for our 9th Grade students who have completed the Confirmation classes. This year it is at 9:30am on October 29, 2017.
Worship Reflections, Service Hours, Worship Attendance:
It is required to turn in 72 Worship Reflections, 30 Service Hours, and attend worship 72 times before they can participate in the Rite of Confirmation. This averages out to about 2x a month for the duration of their Confirmation process. If any of these are missing, the Youth Ministry Office will connect with you directly.
Faith Interviews, October 1 and October 15:
Each confirmand needs a personal interview with one of the ministry staff. We will be offering them two different Sundays from 1:00-5:00pm at Concordia. At least one parent or guardian needs to attend the interview with the confirmand. The interview will include a faith discussion and a review of their prepared statement for Witness Weekend. These interviews will take 30 minutes.
Witness Weekend - Saturday, October 21 & Sunday, October 22:
Each confirmand will share their personal faith statement with the whole congregation as they assist with leading worship in one of the weekend services. Topics will be provided at the Bridge to Commitment Retreat in September.
Pictures, Brunch, & Rehearsal
Saturday, October 28, 9:00am-noon:
We will celebrate with our confirmands and their families at the Baptismal Remembrance Brunch and then take care of many details so we can focus on the Confirmation vows and worship on Sunday. During this time on Saturday, we will celebrate our Baptisms, practice for Sunday’s Rite of Confirmation Service, and have a class picture taken. Confirmands will need to bring their ironed robes to this event. Godparents and Grandparents are also invited to this event.
Rite of Confirmation, Sunday, October 29 at 9:30am:
The Confirmands are asked to gather at 9:00am in the Dining Hall to line up, get robes, and go through any last minute instructions.
