Older Adult Ministry
Lunch and Learn
On September 21, Concordia’s Dr. John Eckrich will share a presentation on wellness in our lives. His recent book “Vocation and Wellness” explores the importance of balancing mind, body, and spirit. Dr. Eckrich has served church workers through Grace Place for sixteen years. Join us to learn how to effectively care for ourselves. Lunch will be provided at a suggested donation of $5. We will meet in the Atrium at 11:30am.
Our annual Oktoberfest celebration will be held in the Concordia Commons on Thursday, October 19 beginning at 11:30am. Those who have attended in the past know that this is an event that can’t be missed! Rev. David Mahsman will share information on the Wittenberg Project and a brief visit from “Katie Luther” is expected! This is an event not to miss!
Our November 16 gathering will again have a Veterans’ focus. This year we hope to feature women who have served in the military. If you are aware of any female veterans, please share that information with Don Wolfinger, or 636-778-0416. If possible, we would like to know the branch of service as well as dates served.
Our December Christmas gathering will be Tuesday, December 19, at 11:30am in the Dining Hall. Be on the lookout for more details! Helping hands are always needed in planning our Christmas celebration. If you would like to be of assistance, please contact Sharon Ema.
Lutheran Older Adult Retreat
"In Christ Alone We Stand"
Join with others on October 25-26, at Pere Marquette Lodge in Grafton, IL. Sit in the beauty of God's creation and consider how the themes of the Reformation apply to us today, and what scripture has to say about how we live our calling as Christians in today's world.
The 809 Newsletter is written for our Older Adult Community by a peer every other month. It shares stories and pictures from past ministry events, has an article from Pastor Meggers and provides information on how to get involved in things coming up. It is emailed each month to our family members who are 55+.
